New York, NY (Sports Network) - The National Hockey League levied a one- game suspension on Vancouver Canucks forward Jannik Hansen on Wednesday.

Hansen was punished for delivering an elbow to the head of Chicago Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa in the third period of Chicago's 4-3 shootout victory on Tuesday. Hansen was given a minor for roughing on the play.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and based on his average annual salary, Hansen will forfeit $7,297.30 that will go to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

Hansen will miss Thursday's contest in Dallas and will be eligible to return when the Canucks play in Nashville on Friday.
