Frisco, TX (Sports Network) - The Dallas Stars activated forward Derek Roy from injured reserve on Monday.

Roy missed the previous five games with a groin injury. Acquired from Buffalo last summer, Roy sustained the injury in his fourth contest with the Stars, a 3-2 overtime loss to Chicago on Jan. 24.

The Stars also activated goaltender Cristopher Nilstorp and assigned him to Texas of the American Hockey League. A 28-year-old rookie from Sweden, Nilstorp, like Roy, was battling a groin issue. The injury forced him to depart in the third period of his second career start, a 4-3 loss to St. Louis on Jan. 26.

Defenseman Jordie Benn was also assigned to Texas. He was held without a point in eight games with Dallas this season.
