Ellis, Vasquez named NBA's Players of the Week

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Milwaukee Bucks guard Monta Ellis and New Orleans Hornets guard Greivis Vasquez have been named the players of the week for contests through Dec. 30.

Ellis helped Milwaukee go 2-1 last week thanks to averaging 21.3 points, 8.3 assists and 4.0 steals per contest. His best performance came in a loss to Detroit on Sunday, scoring 30 points, dishing out nine assists and posting four rebounds.

Vasquez averaged a double-double of 21.0 points and 10.0 assists as New Orleans won two of its three tilts last week. The Maryland product tallied 27 points in a three-point win over Orlando on Dec. 26, then finished the week with 16 points, eight assists, four boards and four steals in a 98-95 win over Charlotte on Saturday.

Other nominees for the Eastern and Western Conference players of the week were Al Horford and Jeff Teague from Atlanta, Brooklyn center Brook Lopez, Clippers guard Chris Paul and Denver forward Danilo Gallinari.
