Pirates acquire Gomez from Indians

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Pirates acquired right- handed pitcher Jeanmar Gomez from the Cleveland Indians in exchange for minor league outfielder Quincy Latimore.

Gomez went 5-8 with a 5.96 earned run average over 20 games -- 17 starts -- with the Indians last season. Over 42 big league appearances, Gomez has posted a 14-16 record with a 5.18 ERA and 112 strikeouts over 206 2/3 innings.

Latimore batted .252 with 15 home runs and 71 RBI over 126 games with Double-A Altoona last season.
