OGDEN Utah (ABC 4 Utah) – The city is dealing with an arsonist.
Since last week, eleven fires have been intentionally set according to Ogden city fire officials.
The latest happened Monday morning around 5 a.m. near Monroe Street and Park Avenue.

“These are intentionally set fires,” says deputy fire Chief Eric Bauman.

The three acre fire was quickly put out but it’s creating bigger problems for fire investigators. Since last week eleven fires have been set in Ogden city. Fire officials say they’re small grass fires and have caused very little damage.

“These are definitely intentionally set fires,” says Bauman. “They’re all suspicious and there has been no lightning and no other heat sources that are natural causes for this.”

One fire did come close to Nicole Allred’s home near 30th south. Fortunately, fire crews were on the scene within minutes of the 911 call.

“I came out to see how far it was spreading and luckily it wasn’t as bad as it could be,” says Allred. “There’s a lot of brush under here it could have caught.”

But she says it’s too close for comfort and firefighters still have a problem.

It’s a large trail system and its tough to be everywhere at one point,” says Bauman. “That’s what’s difficult.”

He says the fire department is stepping up efforts to find the arsonist.

“Throughout the day we’re doing patrols with firefighters, looking for any suspicious activity,” he says. “And police have increased their activity too.”

Fire investigators say the Ogden’s park trail system seems to be the target of this arsonist.

“One thing we’re looking for is vehicles,” says Bauman. “Someone who might be parked on these trails who just doesn’t look like they’re using the trail system in a typical manner."

Investigators have yet to come across any clues as to who may be doing this and why.

“It’s difficult for me to know why someone would do this,” says Bauman.

But as long as the arsonist is still out there, it’s making families like the Allred’s uneasy.

“I hope they find him,” says Allred. “I hope they get him off the street this could have been really bad.”
Bauman says the arsonist attacks day or night. He’s asking for everyone to pitch in. If someone sees suspicious activity be a person contact fire officials at 801-395-8221.

This will be a quickie, as “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2” is basically critic proof. But even so, here’s my two cents – “HP7 Part 2” is well done, well acted and well worth seeing. | Video

Disney’s “Winnie the Pooh” is a delightful throwback to classic animation. The film utilizes “hand-drawn” techniques and goes back to a gentler and more refined way of telling children’s stories. | Video

This will be short and sweet. There is nothing original about the plot of Zookeeper in which a lonely, stammering, love-dud (Kevin James) needs help wooing his ex, so the animals in the zoo help him out.
