WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) – A standoff between West Valley Police and a man has ended peacefully with the man in custody.

Around noon Thursday, Police were called to a home on Cantwell Drive near 3100 South for a domestic dispute, between a man and a woman.

Police left the scene and received calls from neighbors, about 90 minutes later, reporting shots fired.

When police return to the house, around 1:30 p.m., they found a
n adult male was barricaded in his residence and he fired multiple rounds at officers.

The suspect, Wayne Parry, continued to fire rounds at officers as they were arriving.

Police’s attempts to communicate with the suspect were not initially successful and shots continued to come from inside the residence. Several officers reported the shots were directed at them.

Police say they have had issues with the man over the past week.

Just prior to 5:00pm, Parry informed negotiators that he was willing to surrender to police. He subsequently exited the residence and was taken into custody.

Immediate medical attention was given to Parry as a result of a self inflicted gunshot wound to his lower jaw. He was transported to a local area hospital for further medical attention.

Charges are pending.

The immediate neighborhood was evacuated and several local schools were put on lock down as a precautionary measure.
