HEBER CITY, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Gregory Peterson maintained his innocence while writing his suicide note at his Heber City cabin last month.
His family released his suicide note, which contains some scathing accusations.
His letter appears to blame nine people for his death. It's hard to tell because nine places where names would appear are blackened out.
Peterson apparently wrote this note moments before his suicide October 22. The GOP activist who mingled with powerful people like Mitt Romney and Gov. Gary Herbert killed himself three days after posting a $2 million bail October 19, but not before writing his own version of reality in his suicide note.
The letter is rambling, but reveals all the key points he wants to leave as his legacy. He writes, "I never kidnapped, raped, or burglarized anyone."
At 37 years old, Peterson was accused of sexually assaulting five women. Four are from Salt Lake County and one is from Wasatch County.
To this he wrote, "This was a case about regret no rape. Add a dose of retribution, greed, and a green card and some peer pressure. And you've got an angry mob. And only one of the accusers had sex with me."
Peterson blames the D.A., the media and his accusers for blowing everything out of proportion. He wrote, "I hope that, and I'm confident that my assassination will cause more attention to be paid to the damage to all friends of liberty caused by the mob mentality."
So instead of having faith in the justice system Peterson chose to blame the actions of others for his death, even though he killed himself.
Another portion of his letter reads, "You have the blood of an innocent man on your hands."
Most Heber Citizens don't agree with Peterson casting the blame of his suicide on others. They say regardless of whether he is guilty- he is solely responsible for his actions.
