OGDEN, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Family, friends and complete strangers are coming together to support the family of 6-year-old Emilie Parker. Emilie was among the 20 children who died Friday in the Connecticut school shooting.
"Okay, make the knot," instructs Ogden resident Bianca Davis of her five year old son.
Davis is one of dozens who are working to wrap the Parker's hometown with pink ribbons.
"Cause it's her favorite color," explained Davis.
The six-year-old's body will return to Ogden Tuesday. Before the family arrives home the community is wrapping the neighborhoods in pink to silently show their support in this time of grief.
"This is her home," said Davis. "This is where they were up to eight months ago before they moved."
Robbie and Alissa Parker moved their family from Utah to Connecticut less than a year ago and just a day after his daughter was gunned down, Robbie said he forgave the shooter who took his daughter's life; the little girl that he says made this world a better place.
"Her love and the strength that she gave us and the example that she showed us is remarkable," said Parker. "She is an incredible person."
Now that love and strength is what the community of Ogden is trying to give back to the Parkers one pink ribbon at a time.
"Hope that people can be at peace," said Davis.
A viewing will be held for Emilie Parker at Myers Mortuary in Ogden on Friday. The funeral is scheduled for Saturday at 10 a.m. at the LDS Rock Cliff Stake Center on 1000 Suncrest Drive.
