COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS, Utah (ABC 4 News) - If you live in Cottonwood Heights there's a chance some stolen items police found Friday from a series of car break-ins might be yours.

"There's probably $1,000 worth of property recovered," said Sgt. Gary Young, Cottonwood Heights Police.

Things like credit cards, clothes, and power tools are just some of the items police discovered when they arrested Blas Juarez and another man Friday for breaking into cars near a hair salon on Fort Union Blvd.

"It makes me nervous," said Carrie Michael, hair stylist.

Carrie Michael works at the salon and said it could've easily been her.

"I do keep my gym bag in my car, and other bags for school and stuff," said Michael.

Right now police are trying to return the stolen items to their rightful owners, but with the holiday shopping season fast approaching they also want to warn other drivers - don't make yourself or your valuables an easy target.

"If people could just secure their property this season, their newly purchased items or their purse or laptops or backpacks, secure them in the trunk or take them with them they might prevent further crime in the future," said Young.

If you think some of stolen items you saw were taken from your car, call Cottonwood Heights police.
