What is a guardian?

Story Comments Share
A guardian is a person legally responsible for the personal and financial care of someone unable to manage his or her own affairs. Such people often include minor children or physically or mentally disabled adults. A guardian can be named in a will, or if one has not been previously appointed, the court will determine who shall serve as a person's guardian. Such a determination is guided by state statute.
