Electrical contractor licenses

Story Comments Share
In most states, a person is required to obtain a license, before he or she can work as an electrical contractor. This entails passing a test, which covers general electrical topics. There may be other requirements as well; these will vary by state. Once obtained, the contractor's license is good for that state only, and must be renewed every few years. In addition, the contractor must apply for a business license, before opening their own business. When hiring an electrical contractor, it's always a good idea to make sure he or she has a current license. You may also want to ask if they attend any continuing education programs, to keep up with current technology. For more information on licensing of electrical contractors, check with your local licensing board.
