“People Like Us” stars Chris Pine and Elizabeth Banks in a story of a man who discovers his recently deceased father had a daughter and kept her a secret.
Billed as a “dramatic comedy,” the story sluggishly stays securely in the middle despite good performances from both Pine and Banks. And I think the main problem with the film is it never really wants to be more than a “safe” movie, never straying into anything too edgy or too funny.
The film may make a good diversion for a night out, but in the long run it’s going to be as forgettable as plastic flowers.
It gets a C and is rated PG-13.
