“Act of Valor” uses real-life active duty Navy SEALs blended with actors and a story involving global terrorism.

It seems there’s a Middle Eastern plot to smuggle high-end explosives into key cities in the US. These explosives are virtually undetectable by conventional means. Along with that, an undercover operative has been kidnapped and is being tortured for information.

So the SEALs have two jobs to do.

1. Stop the explosives from reaching their destinations
2. Extract the torture victim from her captors.

The film really shows off how the SEALs use weaponry, training and timing to their advantage, with patience being the big key component in their mental makeup.

But even more so, the film gives us a look at the camaraderie of these men to each other, and their deep relationships with their families.

I really appreciated “Act of Valor” and I think you will as well.

It gets a B and is rated R.
