RENO, Nev. (AP) - A wet winter storm in the Sierra that dumped up to a foot of snow in the upper elevations also brought a couple of inches to the valley floors, making for a messy Monday morning commute in Reno.

The Nevada Highway Patrol responded to 27 traffic accidents between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. Trooper Chuck Allen says eight people required medical attention, but none was seriously injured.

About a foot of new snow was reported near the Mount Rose ski resort between Reno and Lake Tahoe. Four inches of snow was reported at Incline Village and in the Washoe Valley. One to three inches fell in and around Reno and Sparks. Carson City got an inch.

The storm is headed east into Utah with another on the way Wednesday.
