SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) – One week ago Friday, the nation was shocked to learn 12 people were killed in the Colorado movie massacre. Now a new video is popping up on the internet, as a basic how to course, of what to do if a crazy shooter tries to kill you.

The video is created by the City of Houston, and has step by step instructions and that claims will help you can save your own life.

ABC 4 should warn you this video is very graphic, and you may find it disturbing.

The video begins like any other day in the office, people sitting at their desks, others chatting in the break room. When suddenly a man with a gun walks into the building, and pulls out his weapon, and just starts firing. If you're there, you can see the gunman, or hear shots going off –
What do you do?

Makers of this movie claim they can help you survive; all you have to do is run, hide, or fight.

First, run if you can.

"Encourage others to leave with you, but don't let them slow you down with indecision," said a voice over the video.

If you can't get out safely, the video instructs you to find a place to hide. Lock the doors, turn out the lights and turn the ringer off on your cell phone.

"And if you can't find a safe room or closet, try to hide behind large objects that may protect you. Do your best to remain quiet and calm,” said the video.

Finally, the video suggests if you can't escape, fight.

"Commit to working together as a group, act with aggression, improvise weapons, disarm him, commit to taking the shooter down, no matter what," it said.

The video makes no guarantees how well these ideas will work during an actual shooting. But it claims they give you a fighting chance.

"Your actions can make a difference for your safety and survival, be aware and be prepared," it said.

This is what officials are telling people to do in the City of Houston. But what about Utah?

ABC 4 discussed this video with the Utah Governor's office Friday. They said they have no plans to make a campaign like this, but they are trying to get the word out for more people to think about their safety the next you’re out in public.
