MORGAN, Utah (ABC 4 News) - A small plane crashed five miles north of the Morgan airport sometime Thursday morning.

The plane took off from Morgan en route to the Logan airport at 6 a.m. said Deputy Tyler Grose of the Morgan County Sheriffs Office.

It was piloted by a 50-year-old man, who Grose said was a seasoned military pilot with years of experience.

Around 5:30 p.m., a private pilot spotted the wreckage in a remote mountainous area near the Morgan airport.

The plane was a 1968 single engine Grumman and was not equipped with a homing beacon. Grose also stated there was no distress call reported from the plane.
