Sexual Child Molester Arrested in South Salt Lake

SALT LAKE CITY. (ABC 4 News)- Police arrested a sexual child molester Wednesday.
47-year-old Richard James Hitt was arrested around 10:00 a.m. at his home in the area of 3900 South 300 East, on multiple counts of sexual child molestation.
Hitt was the suspect of a three month long investigation. Police received the initial report of the sexual abuse involving two sisters aged 16 and 10, in early November of 2012.
The charges included multiple felonies of object rape, aggravated sexual abuse of a child and forcible sexual abuse of a child.
Police discovered that the sexual abuse occurred between July 2012 and November 2012. Hitt lived in the basement apartment of the girl’s family. He had been a resident there since March of 2009 and had befriended the family.
South Salt Lake Police Investigators have been closely working with the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office throughout this investigation.
