Salt Lake (ABC4 News)- Runways at the Salt Lake City Airport are closed as the airport attempts to get traction on a major ice storm which has stopped all air traffic from landing or departing.

It has been confirmed that earlier this morning a Frontier Airlines flight 579 from Denver to Salt Lake was which was turning onto a taxiway hit a patch of ice and slid.  The plane never left the runway according to a release from Frontier Airlines.

No one was injured in the Frontier incident and passengers were taken to the terminal.

Just before 1pm the airport announced they had opened one runway.  At this time crews are working on opening the second runway as well as taxiways.

Residual delays are possible and airport officials tell ABC 4 that travelers should check with their airlines to get the most current information.
