VIRGIN, Utah (ABC 4 News) – Video captures pro BMX rider Cam Zink’s gnarly crash when he tried to clear an 80 foot canyon.
Big air and big risk, they're two things you would've seen last weekend at the Red Bull Rampage in Virgin, Utah. But what many people are talking about Thursday didn't happen during the mountain biking competition.
BMX rider Cam Zink was taking a practice run off an 80 foot jump that crosses a ravine. Suddenly in mid air - he lost control. On-lookers gasped as Zink hit the ground. If you watch his helmet camera you can hear the moment Zink realizes he was in trouble.
"Oh oh, oh my god,” said Cam Zink, pro BMX rider.
Many thought Zink suffered serious injury. But somehow he only bruised his heels. Comedian Jimmy Kimmel showed the video on his television show.
"It's like we're riding right along with him,” Kimmel said during the show.
Thursday Reporter Brian Carlson showed it to local mountain bikers.
"I guarantee he knew he wasn't making it right there,” said Dan Neve, mountain biker.
"I think he's lucky, super lucky," said Matt Hillman, mountain biker.
"I want to shrivel up in a ball and cry,” said Jay Speed, mountain biker.
“It's that bad huh?” Carlson asked.
“Oh yah. It looks horrible," said Speed.
Zink posted the video to his facebook page. Reports said he admits he was terrified.
"I was scared for my life and can't believe my legs and knees are intact," said Zink, according to online reports.
"With five knee surgeries, two broken feet and having a rod in my tibia prior to this crash, I guess I'm doin (sic) okay if this 80 foot bail to flat only bruised my heels," he said.

Thursday ABC 4 made several attempts to contact Zink, but he did not immediately return our messages.
