SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) – Police are seeking help to solve a hit and run incident that left a 25-year old dead.

Mark Neiufa was riding his bike on California Avenue when he was hit.

A vehicle fled the scene and police that vehicle may have been involved in Neiufa’s death.

A woman who was working at a taco stand says she turned as soon as she heard screeching tires.

“I was helping a customer I heard a screech,” says Emilia Plancante. “When I looked over there were three cars in the lane.”

Then she saw Neiufa and his bicycle in the middle of the road.

"The person on the ground wasn't moving at all when I looked over,” Plancante says.

She says several cars stopped but one took off.

“There was a white mini van that was turning into that lane and in middle lane,” she says. “When the other cars had stopped it left and it kept going.”

Plancante says the body was in the middle lane where the white mini van was sitting.

“We don't know how that vehicle may have been related to the accident itself, what the connection is but we're interested in that person or those people,” says Dennis McGowan of the Salt Lake City police department.
