You might have heard people refer to "The dog days of summer", so what does that really mean? The period of time from early July until early September is know for having sultry summer heat with a pretty consistent weather pattern. In ancient times, most of the times of the year and seasons revolved around the stars and the planets. So, the dog days of summer were the period of time when the dog star sirius was closest to the sun and that happened to be early July until early September.
So, we are in the dog days of summer now and the heat has definately been here 101 degrees on Sunday. Even Dodger the weather dog has had a summer puppy cut to try to keep a little cooler. While it's this hot, stay as cool as you can during the peak heat of the day.
