SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Utah's six presidential electors cast their ballots Monday for Republican Mitt Romney.
The six Republicans carefully marked, signed and folded the ballots while seated in the Supreme Court chambers at the Utah State Capitol building. Elementary and high school students filled three rows of pews to witness the ceremonial event.
The electors broke into applause as their votes were tailed aloud.
Incoming Attorney General John Swallow said he would have preferred to be casting votes for the winner, but said it was an honor to be representing the people of Utah.
Romney won easily in Utah by a 73-25 percent margin over President Barack Obama. Romney is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and helped salvage the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.
