SPIRIT LAKE, Idaho (ABC 4 News) - Police in Idaho and FBI agents from Utah are in pursuit of a man who fired a gun at an officer and kidnapped a woman over the weekend.
According to Idaho State Police officials, Mitchell Walck was driving a pickup truck when he was pulled over by a Spirit Lake officer on Friday and fled the scene, resulting in a 30-minute chase involving other agencies.
Police say Walck ditched the truck and fled on foot, firing a shot at an officer before escaping into a containment area. The officer was not struck nor injured, but police say Walck somehow slipped through the containment area.
On Sunday, police say Walck kidnapped a Rathdrum, Idaho woman from her home at gunpoint and forced her to drive him to Glendive, Montana, where he let her go unharmed and took her car.
Police say Walck was last seen driving the victim's 2005 Subaru Forester, Idaho license plate K230050.
Police say Walck also has the same handgun he fired at the officer, along with two rifles taken from the victim's home.
Walck was described as being 5-08 to 5-10, medium build, wearing a long-sleeved gray shirt, light blue jeans and possibly a blue ball cap.
Police believe Walck may have shaved his beard and changed his hair color since he was last seen.
