DRAPER, Utah (ABC 4 News) - ABC4 got an inside look at the new Corner Canyon High School in Draper. Not only is the building beautiful, but it is unlike any school in Utah.
It is a construction zone inside corner Canyon High School.
The school's principal, Mary Bailey, showed off the progress of the school she helped to design.
Mary Bailey said, "I never knew what I was in for, and I've loved every minute of it."
While the school is beautiful, the focus of efficient learning, is what Bailey is the most proud of.
Bailey said, "I hope they look beyond the beautiful exteriors, to how this is going to make education enlightened."
There is a robotics room, a TV studio for students to use to create, and a huge wood shop. All within three classrooms on the north end of the building.
These rooms just one example of the emphasis Corner Canyon has on engineering.
Besides the emphasis on teaching engineering, engineering has created a building with the best environment for students to learn.
Bailey said, "Instead of just a building that is convenient, it is going to be a building convenient for academics."
Natural lighting is available in most of the building. Inside the commons area there is no artificial lighting and you don't need it, massive windows light the area perfectly.
This school is just one part of the 250 million dollar bond Canyons School District has been using to work on 13 different projects in the district.
Corner Canyon is the first and biggest project they have worked on since they received the bond in 2010.
