SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 NEWS) - Controversial UHP Trooper Lisa Steed is not talking to ABC 4 News.
Steed was in court Monday in connection with a DUI arrest she made.
But the case was continued and Steed did not testify.
Later, ABC 4 asked her several questions but she remained silent.
In 2007, Steed was the UHP Trooper of the Year.
But now, a year after we started asking questions about her conduct, she's been terminated by the UHP.
And even though she wouldn't talk to us Monday, the defense lawyer opposing her in court did.
Defense attorney Jesse Nix called Steed a “dirty cop.”
ABC 4 News started investigating Steed in November, 2011.
We reported on Steed's reprimands, her DUI cases being thrown out, her termination and the $40,000 dollar settlement the state paid.
This was to a man Steed tasered when he was sitting in his car.
Also, Michael Studebaker, an attorney involved in a lawsuit against Steed, told ABC 4 Monday that Steed is being investigated by the FBI.
Because of all this, when Steed left the courthouse, we followed.
But the accompanying video shows the questioning much better than in print.
Monday afternoon, I did talk with Lisa Steed's attorney.
He told me that Steed is appealing her termination and that a hearing with the UHP has now been scheduled for early January.
