Provo (ABC 4 News) -- A 15-year-old boy is responsible for nearly 30 separate criminal mischief incidents around Provo, authorities said Thursday.

Several residents reported damage to vehicle windows and mailboxes earlier this week. Between Dec. 16-17, Provo Police investigated 29 such incidents which were largely committed on the east side of the city. However, authorities said similar damage was done in northern and southern Provo.

The Provo Police Department -- working with Brigham Young University Police -- conducted an investigation into the vandalism and eventually identified a 15-year-old boy as a suspect in the case. Detectives confiscated two baseball bats and a BB gun they believed were used in the incidents. The teen has been charged with a total of 29 counts of criminal mischief, and will face the charges in juvenile court.

Although police arrested the teen, officials believe there are other suspects involved.

"These juveniles went on a criminal spree, costing the citizens of Provo thousands of dollars," said Provo Police Chief Rick Gregory. "BYU was instrumental in helping detectives bring a quick close to this investigation and will ensure that those responsible are held accountable."
