SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - An accident involving a semi-truck has caused the closure of the I-80 east bound at approximately 900 west.

According the Utah Highway Patrol, the accident happened around 11:30 when the driver lost control of the truck on wet roads.

A UHP patrolman on the scene of the accident told ABC 4 that is does not appear high speeds were part of the cause of the accident and said it appears to just be a case of oil residue that reacts with fresh rain to create slick roadways.

UHP urges drivers to slow down and take extra caution driving under these type of conditions.

The accident is still being cleared and UHP expects the accident to be cleared between 3:30 and 4 p.m.
