SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - An underground explosion blew off manhole covers at a downtown Salt Lake City intersection.

Firefighters are investigating what caused the explosion at the intersection of 300 South and 200 East in Salt Lake City.  Nearby business owners told firefighters that they heard a loud "boom" and then they noticed two manhole covers had become dislodged.

Witnesses say yellow smoke poured out of the manholes after a loud explosion was heard.

Firefighters said there were no injuries as a result of the explosion.
