SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) – As part of a St. Patrick’s Day weekend DUI operation, Utah Highway Patrol troopers arrested 21 people in Salt Lake and Utah counties.

The blitz began 9 p.m. Saturday and lasted until 10 a.m. Sunday morning.

Some of the troopers working the operation were made possible because of extra funding from the Utah High Safety Office which provided UHP with 65 extra shifts for the holiday weekend.

Last year, UHP arrested 70 people statewide for drinking and driving.
