Salt Lake County Animal Shelter given national award

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - Salt Lake County Animal Services is being honored nationally.
American Dog Rescue is giving the shelter its 2010 National Animal Welfare and Protection Award.
Salt Lake County has set goals to adopt more animals out and euthanize less and they set a record last year. The shelter cared for 10,500 lost and abandoned animals in 2010. They adopted out 1,623 cats and 1,217 dogs.
The overall goal is to eventually become a no kill shelter.
