BOUNTIFUL, Utah (ABC 4 News) – A crook has taken more than 4,500 feet of copper wiring from street lights in Bountiful in the last week alone.

Police suspect the person is breaking into the base of poles to rip the copper wires out.  Recyclers will pay about 80 cents a foot, but it costs the city about $1.50 to replace.

Light poles near Miller Park Road and 1800 South; 1500 South and Bountiful Boulevard; and Canyon Creek Road and Bountiful Boulevard were vandalized.

It may cost the City about $10,000 to repair all the damages.
