SOUTH JORDAN, Utah (ABC 4 News) - Many people in South Jordan are mourning the death of Randy Treglown.  He was a father of three, taught P.E. at Elk Ridge Middle School and served as executive secretary in his Latter-day Saint ward.

News of Treglown's death spread fast at his school.  "This is a really hard thing," said Principal Larry Urry.

Urry told teachers first, "When I announced to them this morning most of them broke down and sobbed."

Second, he made an announcement over the intercom.  ABC 4 asked one student to share his thoughts moments after he learned the news, "He was the best teacher here.  My favorite."

Randy earned the title of favorite teacher because of his example.

When his students ran, he would run.  Students said he would give one on one attention when it was needed and he was fun.  "He was just awesome. He always kept us happy," said the student who didn't want to share his name.

Bishop Jeff Prows worked in leadership positions with Treglown.  "He was a very good friend, very good man...Randy is well loved and respected and we love him," he said.

Teachers and students say Treglown will be remembered for striving to do the right things for the right reasons even when doing the right thing was hard.  "It's not any one thing he said or any one thing he did other than we just knew we could always count on him," Urry said.

He leaves behind a wife and three sons.

A savings account has been set up through Jordan Credit Union in the name of the Randy Treglown Memorial Fund. Anyone wishing to donate can do so at any Jordan Credit Union location in person or by mail.
