SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) Each year the Utah Food Bank works with volunteers from youth groups and businesses to haul in meat for those in need. This year 90,000 pounds was collected and will be distributed through the food bank.

The effort was a culmination of volunteer's work over several months. Sponsors of the program purchased beef, lamb and pork from state and county fairs. Many of the animals were raised by youth in Utah's 4-H and FFA programs who also volunteers to sort the process meat at the Utah Food Bank warehouse.

"One in six Utahns are unsure of where their next meal will come from," said Karen Sendleback, Utah Food Bank CEO. "So, we truly appreciate everything that these youth and businesses are doing to help ensure that people across the state get the food they need."
