Ranch Garlic French Bread (On the Side, page 340)
1 cup softened butter
2 Tbsp. dry Ranch dressing mix
2 tsp. garlic powder
1 loaf French bread
In a small bowl, combine butter, dressing mix, and garlic powder. Cut bread in slices. Spread butter mixture over both sides of each slice. Broil 4 inches from heat for one to two minutes on each side. Watch carefully to prevent burning.
To Freeze: Spread butter mixture over both sides of each slice. Return cut and buttered (unbaked) slices to freezer bag. Label and freeze for up to a month.
To Serve: Broil one or more slices under broiler for 2 to 3 minutes on one side, turn and broil another minute or two on other side. Watch carefully to not burn.
