Marinara Sauce

½ cup yellow onions
¼ cup olive oil
1 tsp salt
3 Tbsp fresh garlic
2 tsp oregano
1 Tbsp basil
1 Tbsp parsley
2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp crushed red pepper (optional)
3 (15 oz) cans crushed tomatoes
1 tsp sugar


- Measure out the oregano, basil, parsley and pepper in one container
- Heat the oil in a 3qt. sauce pot
- Add the onions and salt sauté until translucent
- Add the garlic peppers and herbs just before the onions are finished
- Reduce heat to low and simmer for about two minutes
- Add the cans of crushed tomatoes, mixing thoroughly
- Add the salt sugar
- Simmer for at least half an hour the longer the better
- Serve over pasta or use in lasagna, eggplant or chicken parmesan.
