Trying to get in the mood? Forget about lighting some candles or reading a naughty passage from Fifty Shades. To heat up your next nookie session, look no further than your iPod, says a new study from streaming music site Spotify. A good 40% of people surveyed said that listening to music is more likely to get them in the mood for sex than actually being touched by their partner. And the number one song considered to be even better than sex may come as quite a surprise!
"Music can activate the same pleasure centers of the brain that also respond to much less abstract rewards such as food, drugs or indeed sex,"
surveyed 2,000 men and women of all ages in the UK on behalf of Spotify.
The researchers also quizzed study participants about the best songs for different sexy situations. The favorite soundtrack in the bedroom, for example, went to Dirty Dancing- (If it seems weird that dudes are also down for sappy love songs, it's because "men are more likely than women to change their music tastes and listening habits in order to ensure greater success in the bedroom." Now we get it.)
Marvin Gaye apparently gets us all hot and bothered, too: Sexual Healing was voted the number one track to "get us in the mood," with Let's Get it On in second place; Barry White's Anything came in third.
And if getting lucky just isn't in your cards tonight, you can always listen to the song voted "even better than sex:" Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody!
