Lindsay LaPaugh from Soul Food Living gives advice on how to keep healthy and happy this holiday season!
From Lindsay:
I. Remember it’s the holidays it should be a time for celebration. -You want to be able to enjoy yourself
-It is important to have a good time, and stay focused on what you are grateful for
-it is okay to indulge but you want to do it in a healthy way, and not overindulge
II.Take time out for yourself-DON’T wait for a new years resolution-take a bath, light a candle, read a book, have a cup of tea, meditate, yoga
Props: lavender bubble bath, lavender neck wrap, meditation pillow, gratitude journal
III.Focus on controlling blood sugar levels -When blood sugar spikes you: get craving, become moody, lose energy, and you start to binge.
-when you have a controlled blood sugar level(stable) you burn through body fat, you have more energy, less mood swings, and get better nights sleep.
-My 7 and 14 day detox programs focus on helping people learn how to control their blood sugar levels
a. Breakfast ideas-eggs with veggies, smoothies, steel cut oats and mixed berries prop: steel cut oats, fruit, organic free range eggs.
b. Lunch-salad, wraps lots of veggies, keep it light and let it help you energize you for the rest of your day prop: organic mixed greens as base, hummus, avocado, ezikel bread
c. Dinner aka Holiday Party-Visualize how your night will go before you get there. Remember it is NOT your last meal. Take a look at what your options are and decide where you want to indulge, start with a little, you can always go back for more.
