It's time again to put your running shoes on and get your training regimen back on track. But that could also mean injuries! We talked to a physical therapist at South Mountain Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation on how to diagnose, treat, and prevent them!
Jeremy Osmond says they are seeing a lot of running, cycling, and other training injuries this time of year, mainly overuse injuries from people going out and doing too much, too soon.
One injury is called an IT band injury. That band runs down the side of your leg. The most common location of pain is on the side of the knee. One way to treat it is to use a foam roller to roll out your IT band. Watch the video for an example on how to do that.
Another common injury is plantar fasciitis. That's when there is pain on the bottom of the foot. The plantar fasciitis actually acts as a shock absorber. Jeremy says the most important thing is to warm up in the morning with some ankle pumps. To find out how to do those, watch the video.
