PORT ORCHARD, Wash. (ABC 4 News)-The audio tapes from the Jan. 23 shooting at a Washington State Wal-mart that killed 13-year-old Astrid Valdivia of South Salt Lake were released Friday.

Callers initially reported a suspicious-looking man with a young girl in the parking lot.

The tapes suggest the deputy sent to investigate from the Kitsap County Sheriff's Office called dispatch to report two officers had been shot after pursuing suspect Anthony Martinez.

Deputy: "Shots at Wal-mart! We've been hit, shots fired! We have an officer down! We have two officers down and the suspect shot. We need back up now!"

After the deputy, a man called from the Wal-mart parking lot to report the same thing.

"Officers have been shot in front of Walmart in Port Orchard," said the Wal-mart customer. "There were two officers pursuing the man at Wal-mart, I saw the man turn and shoot at officers."

The man then proceeded to give a description of Martinez.

According to county prosecutors, Martinez shot Valdivia twice, then himself, after firing the shots at police.

The injuries to the two officers were not fatal.
